A New Website To Help Hoover

There is a new website coming to Hoover Alabama

A temporary site has been set up showing a screen shot of what the Home Page will look like.
Especially For You Florist will be one of the first businesses to get on board.

This site will be a great opportunity for local Hoover Businesses to be involved with what will be come the prime site for Hoover Alabama.

Portal

Technically, this type of website is called a Portal. A portal is an entrance or doorway. This site will be an entrance to the internet through Hoover Alabama. You will be able to set this page up as your home page so anytime you log onto the internet, you will be able to first get up to date on news, weather, and the Happenings in Hoover. You will be able to search the internet from this home page.

Access Point

The idea behind the site is to provide an access point onto the internet from a Hoover perspective. The concept is beneficial to Hoover residents and Hoover businesses. More and more people every day are accessing the internet to find products, information, help, and so much more. It is amazing the growth that is taking place.

Working On A New Website

All I can say is WOW!
Hmmmm, that "Wow" seems to be a theme here.
This time it is because setting up a new website is a lot of work. There is a lot to learn and it takes time. The upside is that, I am enjoying it.

A Wedding "WOW"

We received this great note from the Mother of a recent Bride. . . .


Not sure who to address this to, but wanted to thank the lady who worked with Erica O. on her flower order for her wedding March 22nd. The bouquets were beautiful with the dark blue delphinium. This lady was the one who used peacock feathers in the brides bouquet and the boutonnieres. We had so many comments on how neat that was.
So thanks to all who helped with the design. Your talent and artistic touch helped make the wedding unique and beautiful.

Mother's Day WOW!

This was a sweet note from a very appreciative customer that has really become a friend.

Dear Kathie,
Just had to thank you for my beautiful Mother's Day flowers. They are so beautiful, at night I put them in the guest room which is cool. The little gold heart was a sweet touch and will go in my memory end table. . . . . . .I really enjoyed meeting your husband and told him to tell you how much I liked the pictures and article in the paper. I cut it out and now you are in my garden book which I have had for many years. Told your husband how much I liked what he had to say in the article, "No, he didn't buy you flowers, he bought you a whole flower shop", and laughed.
Hope you had a nice Mother's Day, a bit on the tired side I bet, but great! Will stop in the shop when I get a chance.

Important Mothers Day Notice

Especially For You Florist, as we have said is a Real Local Florist in Hoover Alabama. We take flower orders and hand deliver them to your wonderful Mother with a smile.

There is a gigantic marketing campaign going on for ProFlowers right now filled with false advertising. The primary falsity is the fact that the flowers are "cut from the field and shipped directly to you". They are not. Proflowers has major warehouses around the country where flowers are packed in boxes sitting and sitting and sitting waiting on you to call. This was proven in a lawsuit filed by FTD a couple years ago, yet somehow they continue to lie to the public.

Now, I would like you to checkout a test done by NBC4 in Washington DC that compares flowers shipped in a box with real florist flowers.

Needless to say, the real florist flowers won hands down.

If you have received a beautiful floral arrangement from Especially For You, then there is a good chance that you have met the Worlds Greatest Delivery Driver, Teresa.
Teresa has been with us for around sixteen years. She actually does a lot more than deliver the smiles to you. She waits on customers, preps flowers, helps with the bookwork, and even scrubs buckets.
We really appreciate her, she is part of our family and a very integral part of the business.

We Survived Another Valentines Day! WOW!

It was hectic. It was exciting. It was stressful. It was wonderful. It was just what we expected. It was busy.
Our wonderful staff performed marvelously.
Most of all, our customers were GREAT. THANK YOU ALL.

Over the years, we have wondered what would happen if we chose not to do Valentines Day. Just chose not to participate. Would anyone miss us?
The only reason we would even think of such a thing is because of the total misconception presented by much of the media and some people that florist's are making a killing on Valentines Day. The false story that the florist is actually ripping people off by raising their prices just because they can. NOTE: we realize that not everyone feels this way, but the story gets out there every year.

If the general public only knew the challenges involved with this day of all days, they might be a little more understanding. I won't belabor the point but, we have a tremendous increase in cost of goods and overhead for this one day. It is incredible.
At the end of the day, after all the extra help is paid, the flower suppliers are taken care of, the extra van rental paid and all is said and done, we wonder where all the big profits are.
The one thing we can be pleased with is the fact that we got the orders out, we made people smile, and we can look back at a job well done.

The Morning B4 the Big Day

You will notice I cut & pasted Kathie's comment to a real post. I will get her up to speed on how to add a post after Valentines Day.

I am a talk radio addict. I try to catch Rush, Shaun, etc, etc. when I can. I have to say, I am very disappointed in their taking on the advertiser Pro-flowers.

Some of you know, most don't, that when you get an order from Pro-flowers, it comes in a BOX.

Please don't disappoint your friend or loved one by ordering flowers in a box.

We are well on the way to V Day, Teresa and I are spending every spare minute taping vases, cutting ribbons, clearing work stations to make ready for more help. The orders are beginning to roll in.

I would hope that any of you reading this would please order your flowers from a real florist not 1800 flowers or any of the other order gatherers, that only take orders and clip money off the top of the order and send it to a real florist to fill the order with less money than you gave them and then you are dissapointed in your order.

Introduction to Especially For You Florist Blog

Wow. This has been a long time coming. My name is Glenn and I am setting this Blog up for my wife, Kathie, who owns Especially For You Florist in Hoover, Alabama.

Once we get going on this, I am expecting Kathie to humor you with her wit and craziness along with some pics of her fantastic floral designs.

I also expect to hear from Bandit, the Official Greeter at the shop. He is a half human Shi tzu with a knack for befriending everyone.

Kathie may even share some pics of the Most Beautiful Granddaughter in the world, Ms Maddie.

Kathie has had the Florist since 1989. She has steadily improved her design skills over the years, winning the Alabama State Florists Association coveted Designer of The Year in 2002. Her goal of earning her AIFD certification was achieved last summer (2007) when she was inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers. I got to attend the induction in beautiful Palm Desert CA. Membership in this organization is held by only 1500 designers world wide. Needless to say, she is a fantastic Designer and has shared her talent on many design panels.

I am anxious for this blog to be a tool to let our valued customers know what is going on, not only at the florist but in our lives also. I would like it to be a personal view into our lives as we share in your lives also.
